Three private schools in Peshawar are facing legal action for ignoring the officially announced winter vacation schedule. The Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) confirmed the violations after inspections revealed the institutions continued academic activities during the break.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department had declared winter vacations from January 1 to January 15 for summer zones. For winter zones, the break runs from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026. Despite this, several schools reportedly remained open, prompting complaints from parents and the public.
On the instructions of PSRA Managing Director Javed Iqbal, an inspection committee was formed. Assistant Director Syed Faizan Ali Shah and Assistant Muhammad Roshaan carried out field inspections across the Peshawar district.
During the checks, The Educators School Rahatabad Campus, Ittefaq Model School and College Chamkani, and The Knowledge School Chamkani were found operating during the winter vacation period. The committee confirmed that the schools violated the joint notification issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department and PSRA on December 19, 2025.
Authorities noted that the schools had been repeatedly warned to follow the vacation schedule. However, the institutions continued classes despite multiple reminders. PSRA has now decided to initiate strict legal proceedings against the schools under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority rules and regulations.
