Cricket fans are still waiting to buy tickets for the highly anticipated Pakistan vs India match in the T20 World Cup 2026, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) holding sales amid ongoing uncertainty.
The blockbuster game between the neighboring countries is scheduled for February 15 at R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo , but the ICC has yet to open ticket sales for this fixture.
Other matches at the same venue, including Super 8 stage games, are already available to the public. On the ticketing platform, the Pakistan vs India contest is the only match still marked “commence soon.”
Pakistan team has reached Colombo, while Suryakumar Yadav confirmed the readiness of the Men in Blue. However, the ICC seems reluctant to release match tickets without official confirmation from the PCB.
Officials familiar with the matter say the delay stems from the firm stance of Pakistan, despite efforts by the ICC and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to resolve the issue through private discussions.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the position of Pakistan, emphasizing that the team will not face India in the tournament and insisting that politics should remain separate from sport.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), co-host of the event, has urged Pakistan to reconsider its decision, saying that a boycott could cause significant financial losses for organizers, broadcasters, and fans alike.
In the letter, Sri Lanka Cricket also reminded Pakistan of the support it extended during difficult periods, including touring Pakistan after the 2009 militant attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore.
“We recall that Sri Lanka Cricket and the national team toured Pakistan several times, playing international matches despite difficult conditions, including serious security incidents and heightened risks,” the letter said.
