Popular TikToker Imsha Rehman has broken her silence for the first time since becoming embroiled in a viral video leaks controversy. She revealed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested the individual responsible for circulating the “fake videos” that caused significant harm to her reputation.
Imsha, who boasts over 200,000 followers on TikTok, became the focus of intense media scrutiny in November 2024 after videos purportedly depicting her in a private moment with an unknown man started to spread across the internet. The dissemination of pirated videos has become an increasingly prevalent trend on TikTok, particularly following the public exposure of similar footage featuring fellow TikToker Minahil Malik. This resulted in considerable criticism and a significant outpouring of public indignation.
Imsha participated in her inaugural media interview subsequent to the incident, during which she dismissed the authenticity of the released videos and asserted that an individual had fabricated false content with the intent to tarnish her public reputation. “The videos circulating online were fake and purposely spread to harm me,” she said, adding that the scandal had deeply impacted her life, leading her to withdraw from university and step away from the public eye.
The influencer also revealed that she had been subjected to death threats following the release of the videos. “People think it’s cool to share others’ videos without understanding the damage it can cause,” she remarked, calling out the toxic culture that enables such behavior. Imsha emphasized the emotional toll of the situation, saying that she struggled to face people in the aftermath of the viral incident.
Imsha chose to pursue legal action instead of public announcements or social media responses to capture the perpetrator who leaked the videos resulting in their arrest. The FIA intervened quickly which led to the accused person’s detention according to Imsha’s statements.
The video leak scandal struck Imsha while exposing widespread privacy breaches within the digital world that caused multiple social media influencers to suffer from similar digital attacks. The incident ignited public discussions about social media platforms’ duty to safeguard user content and stop the distribution of dangerous materials including deepfakes.
Imsha’s social media presence was temporarily shut down following the leaks. In a message posted on Instagram at the time, she explained, “Jab tak video viral hai mein ne id off kar di hai [I have deactivated my accounts for as long as the video is doing the rounds].”
The FIA took a major step to confront digital privacy violations according to social media activists and influencers who support content removal and more compassionate approaches to sensitive cases. This case serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of online harassment and the need for stronger safeguards to protect individuals’ privacy in an increasingly digital world.
