In a significant move to promote electric vehicles (EVs) and sustainable mobility, the federal government has announced that it will award free electric bikes to the top 120 students of the Federal Board.
Rana Tanveer Hussain, the federal minister in charge of industries and production, presided over the fourth meeting of the Electric Vehicles Policy, where this decision was made. The meeting also covered the status of the 40 EV charging stations that are being set up along national routes and motorways.
The minister stressed the need to provide electric vehicle charging stations at every petrol station in the nation’s capital during the session. In addition, 39,000 electric bikes and 1,900 electric rickshaws would be made available to the public on easy loans by the government, making them affordable and accessible to wider people.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the whole process would be done digitally to make it clear. This is in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s plan to make Islamabad a model city. The Federal Minister said that the Electric Vehicles Policy would be made public soon.
With these programs, the goal is to encourage environmentally friendly transportation across the country and support sustainable urban development.
