A recent update brings the long-awaited chronological order to the Android platform. The feature was first introduced to iOS devices last month.
Twitter has brought back its reverse-chronological timeline on mobile devices. The social media giant switched to algorithm-based timeline four years ago in attempts to refine the best possible way to display feed for users. With the traditional chronological form of feed now coming back, Android and iOS users will now be able to switch between seeing top tweets and latest tweets first by tapping the sparkle icon on the top right corner of the app and switching to the timeline view of their choice.

This feature has long been awaited by both Android and iOS users. Ever since Twitter discontinued the chronological news feed it faced a lot of criticism from its users mainly because people preferred to use Twitter for its original function of keeping up with the latest news and live events in real time. Events like live sports events and critical current affairs depend on their timing, and Twitter’s constantly updating timeline used to be an excellent source of the latest news. That’s why the social media platform’s decision to move to algorithmic timeline back in 2016 was hugely criticized and highly disliked.
From today onward, Android users will now finally see the sparkly icon in the upper right corner of the app. This button will give you the option to see the latest tweets first. Everything will be displayed in the order it was tweeted with no “In case you missed it” nuisance. Hopefully, Twitter can now stick to this form of feed and not change it again for a new experiment.
