U S Ends Global Ugrad Exchange Program For Pakistan After 15 Years

ISLAMABAD: The U.S. Department of State has discontinued the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program for Pakistan (Global UGRAD), ending a 15-year initiative that transformed the lives of thousands of Pakistani students through academic and cultural exchanges.

The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) announced the termination, expressing regret over the decision. Global UGRAD-Pakistan had been a prestigious opportunity for undergraduates to spend a semester studying in the U.S., fostering leadership skills and international understanding.

Since 2010, the program enabled thousands of Pakistani students to experience U.S. education through full scholarships. It played a pivotal role in strengthening academic ties between the two nations while cultivating a network of young leaders committed to positive change.

USEFP encourages affected students to explore other U.S.-sponsored programs listed on their official website, including Fulbright Scholarships and the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program. While no reason was given for Global UGRAD’s cancellation, the foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Pakistani students through other initiatives.
