UAE Makes Passport Cover Mandatory for Visa Applicants

In a new update for visa seekers, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made it mandatory for all entry permit applicants to submit the outer cover page of their passport along with other required documents. The change, reported by Khaleej Times and confirmed by Amer Center officials, takes effect immediately.

The UAE already requires travelers to provide a copy of their passport, a recent passport-sized photograph, hotel booking confirmation, and a return air ticket. With this new rule, the passport’s external cover page has officially been added to the checklist.

Though the exact reason for this amendment has not been disclosed, officials suggest it may help strengthen identity verification and reduce document-related fraud. Travel agents also believe the move could streamline the application process by ensuring additional document authenticity.

This comes shortly after the UAE tightened its visa policies, including restrictions on visit and work visas for citizens of nine countries. The latest measure highlights the UAE’s increasing focus on secure and transparent immigration practices as part of its broader efforts to regulate foreign entry.
