Ufone has just finally started activating its 5G network in Islamabad. However, the telecom operator is undeniably late to the game. For months, Ufone trailed far behind Jazz and Zong in Pakistan’s broader 5G rollout. Now, the company is finally making its move. Currently, the high-speed service is live in several major sectors and areas of the capital.
Confirmed Ufone 5G Coverage Areas
We recently conducted limited testing across the city. Consequently, we successfully verified active Ufone 5G signals in multiple prominent locations. Since our initial testing was limited, the company likely operates additional sites across Islamabad that remain unidentified.
Here are the confirmed active areas so far:
| General Area | Specific Verified Locations |
|---|---|
| Sector F-10 | F-10/3 (Near the Margalla Road traffic signal) |
| Sector F-6 | Areas near United Bakery |
| Jinnah Avenue | New Blue Area, G-9/2, G-9/3, and near Centaurus |
| Islamabad Expressway | Near Sector G-8, and the Faizabad/Murree Road connection |
| Other Major Zones | Near Serena Hotel, DHA Central Park Phase II, and Humak |
Speed Test Results: Downloads vs Uploads
We ran comprehensive speed tests while traveling through these active coverage areas. Overall, the network delivered highly impressive download speeds. In stark contrast, the upload performance was severely lacking.
Ufone’s 5G network delivered average download speeds of more than 300 Mbps. This result is excellent, especially since we conducted the tests while in motion. Usually, mobile speed tests produce lower results during travel. Therefore, stationary users will likely experience even faster download rates.
However, the upload performance was far less impressive. During our tests, upload speeds rarely exceeded 20 Mbps while traveling.
What to Expect Next?
Ufone will continue expanding its 5G deployment. Therefore, you can expect significantly more coverage to appear across the capital in the coming months.
If you have already found Ufone 5G coverage in other parts of the city, drop a comment. Furthermore, share your own speed test results so we can see how the network actually performs in your specific area.
