The UK Home Department has cancelled the visa of popular social media influencer Rajab Butt, who has been in hiding for months due to ongoing cases in Pakistan. The decision follows incomplete documentation submitted with his visa application and raises questions about his future residency.
Rajab Butt, a TikTok and YouTube content creator, faces charges in Pakistan for allegedly promoting a gambling app. He had a valid UK visa until 2027, but authorities claim he failed to disclose ongoing legal matters in Pakistan.
British government has issued a written notice to Rajab Butt, cancelling his visa. The cancellation is due to his hiding in Pakistan while a case under Section 295C is registered against him. He did not inform the Home Office about the case.UK Cancels Rajab Butt Visa Amid Pakistan Legal Case
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently met British High Commissioner Jane Marriott to discuss repatriation of Pakistanis living illegally in the UK and the return of individuals involved in anti-Pakistan propaganda. Extradition documents for Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja were also presented.
The minister emphasized that while Pakistan respects freedom of expression, spreading fake news and maligning state institutions will not be tolerated.
Rajab Butt responded, saying he intends to appeal the Home Office decision and has consulted lawyers to file the appeal soon.
