University of Karachi Closed Today, Exams Postponed

Published by

The University of Karachi announced that all classes and scheduled exams for March 2 have been cancelled. Teaching activities across the university will also remain suspended.

The university said it made the decision because of major protests and unrest in the city that have disrupted normal life. New dates for postponed exams will be announced later.

The disruption follows a wave of countrywide protests after reports emerged that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in foreign strikes, news that has sparked grief and anger among many in Pakistan.

In Karachi, large protests near the U.S. Consulate turned violent on Sunday, with demonstrators trying to push past security barriers and clashes erupting between police and crowds.

The unrest has made daily life difficult for ordinary residents, with closed roads, long traffic jams and uncertainty spreading across the city. Many people were left stranded on their way to work, hospitals and homes, while families worried about ones caught near protest areas.
