The United States of America dominated the Netherlands by 93 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, delivering superior performances with both bat and ball.
Chasing a challenging target of 197, the Netherlands were bowled out for 103 in 15.5 overs, with only Bas de Leede and Scott Edwards offering resistance before being dismantled by the USA bowlers.
Saiteja Mukkamalla top-scored for the USA with a fighting 79, while Shubham Ranjane contributed an unbeaten 48, guiding the team to a formidable total of 196 for six in 20 overs.
USA all-rounder performance
The Netherlands won the toss and opted to field first, but the USA began cautiously, losing opener Shayan Jahangir for 20 off 27 balls, slipping to 27 for one early on.
Captain Monank Patel and Saiteja Mukkamalla steadied the innings with a 45-run second-wicket partnership, maintaining momentum despite early pressure from the Netherlands’ bowlers.
Patel departed for 36 off 22 deliveries after being deceived by Bas de Leede’s slower ball, leaving the score at 105 for three as the USA continued to rebuild steadily.
Mukkamalla then shared a crucial 54-run fourth-wicket partnership with Shubham Ranjane before falling to de Leede, who finished with impressive figures of 3 for 37 in his four overs.
Ranjane guided the USA to a strong finish, remaining unbeaten on 48 off 24 balls, including three fours and two sixes, helping his side reach a formidable 196 for six.
For the Netherlands, Bas de Leede and Scott Edwards offered resistance, scoring 23 and 20 respectively, while Max O’Dowd and Roelof van der Merwe made minor contributions.
Top performer
Harmeet Singh delivered a sensational bowling performance, taking four wickets for 21 runs in four overs, dismantling the Netherlands’ top and middle order and turning the match decisively in the USA’s favour.
Shadley van Schalkwyk supported Singh with three wickets, Mohammad Mohsin claimed two, and Nosthush Kenjige chipped in with one, leaving the Netherlands unable to chase the daunting target of 197 runs.
