USD to PKR Today: Dollar Holds Firm in Open Market

The USD to PKR exchange rate hovered near Rs283 in the open market on Friday, as foreign exchange rates showed mixed movement against the Pakistani rupee. While the US dollar remained largely stable, other major global and regional currencies traded at varied levels, reflecting cautious sentiment amid ongoing economic adjustments.

According to market data from Karachi, the US dollar was being bought at Rs281 and sold at Rs283.10. The euro and pound sterling also remained firm, with the euro trading above Rs332 on the selling side, while the British pound stayed close to Rs380. Currency dealers said demand from importers and limited dollar supply kept the greenback steady.

Middle Eastern currencies showed stability, supported by consistent remittance inflows. The UAE dirham and Saudi riyal traded near Rs77 and Rs75 respectively, while the Kuwaiti dinar remained the strongest currency in the market, selling above Rs921. Asian currencies, including the Chinese yuan and Japanese yen, also saw minor fluctuations without sharp volatility.

Currency movements remain sensitive to Pakistan’s external financing outlook, import demand, and global dollar strength. Analysts note that stability in the USD to PKR rate is crucial for inflation control and trade planning, especially as Pakistan navigates fiscal reforms and external payment obligations.
