WhatsApp may soon introduce a new paid subscription called WhatsApp Plus, a feature that could offer additional customization tools and enhanced chat controls for users willing to pay a monthly fee. While the platform’s core messaging service will remain free, the subscription is expected to unlock several exclusive options on top of the existing features.
The development was reported by WABetaInfo, a well-known source that tracks upcoming features in WhatsApp updates.
According to the report, the company is exploring ways to give users more control over the appearance and experience of the app without changing the free nature of its basic service.
One of the main highlights of WhatsApp Plus will be expanded customization. Subscribers may be able to change the application’s icon and choose from several new visual themes. Reports suggest that around 14 additional app icons could be included, along with more color options that allow users to personalize the look of their messaging interface.
The premium plan may also introduce exclusive notification sounds and ringtones, giving subscribers more ways to customize alerts for their messages.
Another notable upgrade could be a significant increase in the number of chats that users can pin at the top of their chat list.
Currently, WhatsApp allows users to pin three conversations, but the Plus plan may raise that limit to 20 pinned chats, making it easier for people who manage many conversations to keep important chats within reach.
According to early information, WhatsApp is also considering subscriber-only sticker packs and more interactive chat features in the future. These additions are still under development and could expand as the company continues testing the service.
