WhatsApp Rolls Out Meta AI Chat Memory Feature to Personalise User Experience
Meta owned messaging giant WhatsApp has begun testing a new chat memory feature for its AI-powered assistant, Meta AI, aimed at delivering a more personalized and assistant-like experience for users.
The feature, currently available to select beta testers using the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.25.11.13), allows users to instruct Meta AI to remember specific details shared during conversations. These preferences are then used to tailor responses in future interactions.
For example, a user who mentions following a vegetarian diet will receive restaurant suggestions that exclude non-vegetarian options. Similarly, someone who enjoys historical documentaries will be shown more relevant content recommendations when asking Meta AI what to watch.
Meta clarified that privacy remains a top priority. The AI chatbot only retains information that users explicitly choose to share. All personal messages and group chats remain protected by end-to-end encryption, and Meta AI does not have access to those conversations.

Users maintain full control over what Meta AI remembers. They can review, update, or delete stored information at any time through the app’s settings.
The feature was initially announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and is now beginning a gradual rollout beyond the beta testing group. The company aims to bring this AI-powered personalization tool to a broader audience in the coming weeks.
With this launch, Meta continues its push to integrate intelligent, user-aware AI assistants across its platforms, enhancing everyday digital interactions through tailored recommendations and smart support.
