Who Is Fawad Sarwar? New Owner of Hyderabad PSL Team

Hyderabad has finally secured its place in the Pakistan Super League as US-based businessman Fawad Sarwar, head of FKS Group, acquired the league’s seventh franchise with a Rs175 crore winning bid. The new PSL team, to be named after Hyderabad, marks a historic moment for the city and a personal milestone for Sarwar, who has long dreamed of seeing his hometown represented on Pakistan’s biggest cricket stage.

The Pakistan Super League expanded with the addition of its seventh franchise after an auction held in Islamabad, where FKS Group emerged as the highest bidder. The management rights were secured for approximately $6.25 million, officially bringing Hyderabad into the PSL fold. Sarwar confirmed that the franchise will proudly carry the city’s name, while the complete team title and branding will be revealed in the coming days.

Born and raised in Hyderabad, Fawad Sarwar completed his early education in the city before pursuing higher studies abroad. Now based in the United States, he remains deeply connected to his roots. Speaking after the auction, Sarwar described the acquisition as a tribute to Hyderabad, saying it had always been his dream to see the city represented in the PSL.

Sarwar is a well-known entrepreneur with diversified business interests. He is the founder of Kingsmen Sports and Enterprises and also owns the Chicago Kingsmen, a professional cricket team in the US. His flagship venture, FKS Group, operates across aviation, healthcare, and enterprise solutions through companies such as FKS Aviation and ProCare Health. He also leads several investment firms, including Gilded Investments, Sand2Glass Investments, and Minus2Degrees.

Images from the auction ceremony showed Sarwar celebrating the successful bid, reflecting both business confidence and emotional pride. With his background in sports ownership and investment, expectations are high that the Hyderabad franchise will be built on professional management, strong talent recruitment, and long-term vision.

The entry of Hyderabad not only expands the PSL’s footprint but also strengthens the league’s connection with fans from Sindh, adding fresh energy and regional identity to Pakistan’s premier T20 competition.
