Global tech company Google has partnered with India’s Reliance Jio to offer its premium AI Pro plan free of charge for up to 18 months to eligible Jio subscribers.
The promotion gives eligible users access to Google’s advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model and generative media tools like image creation tool Nano Banana and video generation model Veo 3.1. Users also receive 2TB of cloud storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. The total value of the plan is estimated at around ₹35,100 or about PKR PKR 117,585 for 18 months. Early access is currently given to Jio users aged 18 to 25 who hold unlimited 5G plans priced at ₹349 or abut PKR 1,105or above. A wider rollout to all users is expected soon.
This offer underlines Google’s strategy to establish long-term user engagement and loyalty in India’s rapidly growing digital economy. Analysts describe the bundle of advanced AI tools and cloud storage as a powerful way to bring more users into Google’s ecosystem. The collaboration also supports India’s ambition to become a global AI powerhouse by combining Jio’s massive subscriber base with Google’s AI infrastructure.
So, it might seem like Google is just giving away its AI Pro plan (now called Google AI Pro, including Gemini Advanced and 2TB storage) universally for free, it’s running targeted promotions to boost adoption, especially among students and in key markets like India.
India is not the only market seeing aggressive AI plan offers. Google has introduced its AI Plus subscription in over 40 countries for as little as USD 5 per month, demonstrating a global push toward more accessible AI.
In Pakistan, students can avail the free Google AI Pro plan too, although for a limited amount of time. Google has launched this free 12-month Google AI Pro plan in August 2025 specifically for college students to “make the school year better” and support AI education. The goal is to equip “AI natives” with tools for learning, critical thinking, and career prep, aligning with Google’s mission to democratize AI.
It’s part of broader initiatives like $1 billion in U.S. AI literacy funding and free AI training via Google Career Certificates.
