Islamabad’s federal schools and colleges have officially announced their winter vacation schedule, with all institutions under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) set to remain closed from December 26, 2025, to January 3, 2026. Academic activities will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026, according to an official notification.
The Federal Directorate of Education confirmed that the holidays will apply to all Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges in both urban and rural areas. The notification, issued with the approval of the Director General FDE, has been circulated to all institutions through Area Education Officers.
An FDE official stated,
“The winter vacation schedule has been finalised keeping in view weather conditions and academic planning.”
The Directorate also announced that Saturday, January 10, 2026, will be observed as a working day for administrative, teaching, and non-teaching staff. Officials will report for duty to complete priority tasks already communicated by the department.
At the national level, provinces have also announced winter schedules due to the cold wave. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has introduced separate holidays based on climate zones, while Sindh and Punjab have finalised their own winter vacation timelines for schools and colleges.
The announcement provides clarity to students, parents, and educators, allowing institutions to plan academic activities smoothly amid seasonal weather conditions.
