Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is the new Camera king according to latest DXOMARK rankings

The popular camera-benchmark website DXOMARK has just released their review on the new Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus which has topped DXOMARK ranking in both categories; front and rear camera.

Just a few days ago DXO released their review on Xiaomi’s latest flagship, Mi 9 which took everyone by surprise as the Chinese smartphone scored a whopping 107 score on the DXOMARK crossing major Apple’s iPhone XS and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 and only behind Huawei’s P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro. However, that achievement has been quickly overshadowed by Galaxy S10 Plus’s impressive feet.

The special thing about S10 Plus’s rating is that not only has it overtaken Mate 20 pro in the rear-facing camera category but has also topped in the front camera-rating, thereby beating Pixel 3 and Note 9. According to DXOMARK’s analysis:

With an overall DxOMark Mobile score of 109 points, the Samsung Galaxy S10+ joins the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro at the very top of our smartphone camera ranking. Samsung’s outstanding overall score builds on a Photo score of 114 points, with the camera doing especially well in the exposure, color, and bokeh categories.

Rear-facing camera (109 points):

With a triple-lens camera-setup (Primary, Ultra-wide, and Telephoto) Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus camera has proven to be a powerhouse in smartphone photography. The Galaxy S10 Plus offers accurate white balance and good color rendering in most situations while providing low noise levels when shooting indoors and in low light.

Equipped with a very wide dynamic range and excellent highlight protection the S10 provides the best still shots with well-exposed flash images and good detail in close-range zoom images and a realistic bokeh effect with good blur gradient.

Front-facing camera (96 points):

This year Samsung has equipped its plus model with a dual front-facing camera with the primary being a 10MP sensor and the secondary camera being an 8MP sensor for depth sensing. The front camera took a giant leap forward from S9’s selfie camera which was often criticized for providing soft images. The camera particularly excelled in providing pleasant skin tones, white balance, and color rendering. The target exposure was good on faces most of the times in challenging conditions. Reduction in noise with accurate autofocus alongside good subject isolation and nice blur gradient in bokeh mode made S10 Plus’s camera score higher than Pixel 3.

With good detail in bright light at all shooting distances and good exposure and low noise in flash images the S10 Plus rightly stands at the top of font-camera ratings.
