ISLAMABAD: In a move towards a more efficient and transparent financial system, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to transition to a digital payment system, eliminating the need for cash transactions.
The decision was made during the fourth CDA Board meeting, chaired by Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with all board members in attendance. This initiative aims to enhance payment security and convenience by reducing human intervention in cash handling.
It was disclosed during the conference that the One Window Operation has already moved to a digital method for paying for 165 services. In addition, Islamabad Water accounts and water tanker rates can now be paid for without using cash via QR codes.
In their briefing to the board, CDA officials stated that the changeover will eventually encompass all financial transactions, including fines from the Enforcement, Environment, and Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) departments.
The board also gave the go-ahead for CDA to use the SAP double-entry accounting system, which will improve financial management even more. At the conclusion of the fiscal year, officials were instructed to ensure that CDA’s assets were thoroughly documented. The chairman, Randhawa, has directed the preparation of a corporate-style financial report outlining the goals and accomplishments of the authority for the year.
To make sure everything goes according to plan, next week CDA and the Controller General of Pakistan will sign an MoU regarding the SAP system implementation. In addition, a committee has been formed to catalog all Islamabad-based CDA properties that are currently under rental agreements. The group is chaired by Member Finance and comprises the Directors of Land, Municipal Administration, and Building Control Section.
