Honor is reportedly testing a smartphone with a battery capacity of up to 15,000mAh. The development follows an earlier leak from June, which revealed the company’s plans for a 14,000mAh battery.
At the time, the battery was reportedly in the New Product Introduction (NPI) stage. However, a new leak suggests development has progressed, with the battery now entering trial production.
According to the source, the battery will offer a capacity between 14,000mAh and 15,000mAh. Honor reportedly expects the upcoming phone to deliver up to one week of use on a single charge.
The smartphone is expected to launch sometime next year. However, the tipster has not revealed which device will receive the massive battery.
Honor could introduce the battery with the upcoming Power3 or Win RT3. The tipster also claims it will use a high-density battery cell. This should help keep the phone’s overall weight and thickness under control.
Meanwhile, Honor recently unveiled the Win RT2 and Win Turbo2. Both smartphones feature a massive 12,070mAh battery, setting a new benchmark for battery capacity in the company’s lineup.
If the latest leak proves accurate, Honor’s next battery-focused smartphone could push capacity even further. A 15,000mAh battery would also make week-long battery life a major selling point.
