Punjab CM Launches IT Training Program to Empower 27,000 Rural Women

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced a transformative six-month digital skills training program aimed at empowering women in rural areas. This initiative is designed to provide them with IT education, opening doors to freelancing, online businesses, and tech entrepreneurship.

Under this program, 27,000 rural women will be awarded scholarships to support their online learning journey. Upon successfully completing their training, participants will also receive desktop computers and free Wi-Fi devices, ensuring they have the necessary resources to apply their newly acquired skills.

The Punjab Skills Development Department has been tasked with managing and overseeing the training process, ensuring that the curriculum meets industry demands.

Speaking about the initiative, Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of digital literacy, stating that equipping women with IT skills will enable them to work remotely, start their own businesses, and contribute to the digital economy.
