ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is set to begin crucial meetings on PTA LDI license renewal from April 9, summoning nine Long Distance International (LDI) operators that collectively owe Rs78 billion in outstanding dues.
The meetings aim to decide the fate of LDI telecom firms that have failed to clear dues, comprising Rs24 billion in principal amounts and Rs54 billion in late payment charges. These companies now face potential cancellation or non-renewal of their licenses as the PTA LDI license renewal process unfolds.
The scheduled sessions will kick off with Red Tone on April 9, followed by Telecard on April 10. Wisecom will appear on April 14, WorldCall on April 15, Dancom and Multinet on April 16, Circlenet on April 17, and 4B Gentle on April 18.
Each LDI operator has been called individually to present its case before PTA leadership at its headquarters. These sessions will be chaired by PTA Chairman Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman, along with other PTA members, senior officials, the Director General Licensing, and a representative from the Ministry of Information Technology.
PTA has emphasized that any company failing to attend its assigned session will have its case decided based solely on available documentation. Final decisions regarding each operator’s license status will be made after the conclusion of these hearings.
