Industries and Farmers Get Electricity Relief Package
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a new three-year electricity relief package called the Roshan Maeeshat Electricity Package to support Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors. The package will run from November 2025 to October 2028, providing cheaper electricity to boost productivity and economic growth.
Under the plan, industries and farmers will receive electricity at a concessionary rate of Rs22.98 per unit, significantly lower than current charges of Rs34 for industry and Rs38 for agriculture. The Prime Minister emphasized that the cost of the electricity supplied under this package will not be passed on to household consumers or any other sector.
During the announcement, PM Shehbaz praised Energy Minister Sardar Awais Leghari and his team for preparing the package. He recalled that a similar winter relief plan last year enabled the industrial and agricultural sectors to use an additional 410 gigawatts of electricity, helping factories stay operational, boosting exports, and generating jobs.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan’s economy had made substantial progress, moving from crisis to stability through careful policy decisions and teamwork.
“Our economic indicators are improving, but continued efforts are needed. With cooperation and effective policy implementation, we can achieve Pakistan’s economic independence,” he stated.
He stressed that sustained growth in industry and agriculture will reduce reliance on foreign loans and strengthen the country’s economy. The Ministry of Energy is expected to release detailed implementation and rollout plans for the electricity relief package in the coming weeks.
