The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has officially launched its e-challan system in Rawalpindi, marking another major step in expanding the province’s digital traffic management network. The initiative follows successful implementation in Lahore and other cities, aiming to improve road safety, traffic discipline, and crime monitoring through advanced surveillance.

High-resolution cameras have been installed across key points in Rawalpindi, including Liaquat Bagh, Raja Bazaar, Commercial Market, Ayub Park, and Chakri Road, to monitor vehicle movements, detect traffic violations, and automatically issue challans. A dedicated PSCA control center has also been established opposite Jinnah Park to manage surveillance operations and handle digital enforcement.

A PSCA official said,

“The Safe City project is designed to make urban centers more secure and efficient through smart technology and real-time monitoring.” He added that the system would also help law enforcement respond quickly to crimes and emergencies.

The project, part of Punjab’s broader Safe City initiative, continues to expand across the province to ensure safer roads and smarter urban management. Authorities have urged citizens to adhere to traffic laws and support the digital enforcement system for a safer commuting environment.
