In what feels like another episode of “Living on the Edge,” Waqar Zaka, the TV daredevil turned “crypto expert,” has announced his grand plan to waltz into the Prime Minister’s office by 2030. Because clearly, what Pakistan needs right now is fewer policies and more viral videos.
In a new video post, Zaka styled himself as the “tech savvy disruptor” who’ll lead the youth toward a brighter future. Apparently, memes, mining rigs, and livestreams are the new tools for nation building.
Zaka, in his video, wants people from all political parties to come join his mission. He also went on to praise the armed forces and the Field Marshall, as he believes they need appreciation for their efforts.
Unlike tradition, Zaka didn’t rise through political struggle, he bounced from reality TV fame straight into crypto obsession. After his Living on the Edge days, he reinvented himself as a self proclaimed blockchain guru, filing petitions to challenge the State Bank of Pakistan’s restrictions on digital assets. He even launched his own party, Technology Movement Pakistan (TMP), which was officially registered in January 2024.
But here’s where things get sticky: In December 2022, a Karachi court issued non-bailable warrants for Zaka in a Rs 173 million crypto scam case, accusing him of fraudulent online trading despite SBP bans. The FIA’s 2023 charge sheet detailed unlicensed activities, with his bank account showing Rs 86.1 million credits and Rs 87.1 million debits during the probe. Warrants were reissued in January 2023, and although there is no resolution or new charges in 2025, Zaka denies wrongdoing in any sense, calling it harassment.
While Zaka is talking about joining politics, he seems to be forgetting that politics is not TikTok. No one can trend their way into the Parliament. For now, his 2030 campaign feels like a crypto coin, shiny, hyped, and full of risk. Pakistan might need new faces, but maybe not one that livestreams his political strategy from a mining rig.
Waqar Zaka’s dream of becoming Prime Minister is wild, weirdly entertaining, and a little delusional. But it also reflects something deeper: the way social media fame makes people believe they can skip straight to national leadership. He has his online fame and a compelling crypto story that can cash into electoral success, but whether it trumps the political environment of the country remains largely out of question.
