The government aims to complete the expansion of the Faisalabad-Pindi Bhattian section of the M-4 Motorway by the beginning of next year, upgrading the existing four-lane road into a modern six-lane motorway.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced the completion target during a visit to the ongoing construction project. He said the government wants to present the people of Faisalabad with an upgraded motorway as a New Year gift.
The 53-kilometer expansion project will increase the road’s capacity from four to six lanes, addressing a long-standing demand of Faisalabad residents.
During his visit to Kamalpur Interchange, the minister reviewed construction activities and directed officials to speed up work by increasing the number of machinery units and workers.
He said the expansion would help reduce traffic congestion, improve travel conditions and prevent road accidents.
The upgraded section will also feature trees along both sides, green belts in the central section and date palm trees as part of its landscaping plan.
The government is also planning to establish modern rest areas for passengers travelling between Faisalabad and Pindi Bhattian. The minister directed officials to finalize rest area designs within one week and ensure proper lighting throughout the motorway section.
