Punjab Orders Special Audit of All Driving License Centers After Corruption Scandal
The Punjab Police has launched a province-wide audit of all driving license centers after a major corruption scandal surfaced at Lahore’s Liberty Khidmat Markaz. The move aims to restore transparency and public trust in the licensing system.
Officials confirmed that the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Inspection has directed all district officers to conduct special audits under the supervision of SP-rank officers. A 20-point checklist has been issued, focusing on corruption complaints, agent involvement, and cases of overcharging applicants.
“The audit will help identify weaknesses and ensure no official or agent exploits citizens,” a senior police officer told.
Teams have also been instructed to review 30-day CCTV footage of road and sign tests and verify all financial and registration records.
The comprehensive audit reports are to be submitted by November 25, with findings expected to guide major reforms in Punjab’s licensing centers.
