Eighth Grade Board Exams In Punjab To Be Restored After Five Years

More than 15,000 teachers who performed invigilation and paper marking duties during the recent matriculation examinations have received long-awaited relief, as the Lahore Board releases Rs280 million for their remuneration. This payment addresses long-standing demands from teachers for timely compensation for examination-related work.

According to official sources, 11,000 teachers were involved in invigilation duties, while 4,100 teachers participated in paper marking. Teachers had repeatedly requested prompt payment for their efforts, which had been delayed for some time, causing concern among educational staff.

Lahore Board Secretary Rizwan Nazir confirmed that payments to all staff will be completed within two days, adding that cheques for more than 50% of teachers have already been issued. The Chairman of the Lahore Board took this step to ensure fair and timely compensation for the teachers’ essential services in conducting the matric exams.

“We are committed to ensuring that all teachers who contributed to the examinations are paid without further delay,” said Secretary Rizwan Nazir.

This move has been welcomed by teachers’ associations, marking a positive step toward recognition of their efforts in maintaining the smooth conduct of exams.
