Three Members Shortlisted for Telecom Tribunal

The process to appoint members to Pakistan’s Telecom Tribunal has reached its final stage, with three candidates shortlisted and sent to the federal cabinet for approval.

Sources say the shortlisted panel includes one member each from legal, technical, and finance backgrounds. This composition meets the tribunal’s core operational requirements. Formal notifications are expected soon after cabinet clearance.

Once operational, the tribunal is likely to speed up long-pending telecom disputes. Many cases have remained unresolved due to the tribunal’s incomplete structure. Industry stakeholders see the development as a long-awaited relief for operators and license holders.

The Telecom Tribunal was established to hear appeals against decisions by telecom regulators. It plays a key role in ensuring fair enforcement of telecom laws and licensing conditions. Delays in its full formation have slowed dispute resolution across the sector.

Officials believe the new appointments will strengthen regulatory oversight. Faster case disposal is also expected to improve investor confidence in Pakistan’s telecom market.
