The Epic Games Store officially revealed its next major promotion today. Following the current dual-giveaway, the store will offer the chaotic open-world action game Rustler for free. This marks the seventh freebie for January 2026.

Starting January 22, PC gamers can claim Rustler at no cost. The promotion runs until January 29. The giveaway begins and ends at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 5 PM CET / 9 PM Pakistan Standard Time. This title normally costs $24.99.
Rustler takes heavy inspiration from classic GTA titles. However, it adds a unique twist. The game is set in medieval times. The PC version carries the subtitle Rustler: Grand Theft Horse. Players wreak havoc from a top-down perspective. The game pairs hectic gameplay with humorous writing. In fact, reviewers often compare it to an interactive Monty Python performance. This is the first time Epic has offered Rustler for free.
Available Now: A Double Dose of Styx
You don’t have to wait to grab free games. From now until January 22, users can claim two titles from French studio Cyanide. Styx: Master of Shadows and its sequel, Styx: Shards of Darkness (Deluxe Edition), are both free.
Ideally, these third-person stealth games reward patience and planning. They serve as prequels to the 2012 action RPG Of Orcs and Men. Interestingly, Epic originally announced the standard edition of Shards of Darkness. However, they are giving away the content-complete Deluxe Edition instead. Each game holds a value of $19.99.
These current freebies serve as appetisers for Cyanide’s latest title, Styx: Blades of Greed. That game releases on February 19. It promises an evolution of the stealth sandbox formula with three large environments.
Bonus Mobile Freebie
Epic also launched a mobile freebie today. You can claim Dumb Ways to Die via the Epic Games Store mobile app until January 22. Developed by PlaySide, this game is based on the popular public awareness campaign by McCann. It usually costs $4.99.
Android users can claim the game worldwide. However, the iOS version faces restrictions. It is only available in the European Union and Japan. These are currently the only markets with official access to alternative iOS app marketplaces.
