Honor is pushing the limits of thin smartphones with its upcoming Magic8 Pro Air. Scheduled for launch on January 19, the device measures just 6.1 mm thick and weighs 155 grams. Despite its slim profile, it packs a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 50MP main sensor sized at 1/1.3″ and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens.
The company has now confirmed the phone’s battery capacity at 5,500 mAh. While this is smaller than some recent Chinese flagships using silicon-carbon technology, it is still 10% larger than the battery in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, highlighting how much power Honor squeezed into its ultra-thin design.
Honor claims the Magic8 Pro Air uses the highest energy density battery ever installed in a flagship smartphone, with a density of 917Wh/l. The battery supports fast charging at 80W via cable and 50W wirelessly, ensuring quick top-ups despite the small form factor.
Performance-wise, the Magic8 Pro Air recently appeared in the Geekbench database, revealing the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip at its core and 16GB of RAM. This combination promises flagship-level speed and multitasking, all within a remarkably thin body.
