Apple’s next iPhone could shine brighter than ever. The base iPhone 18 is rumored to launch in early 2027, carrying a design similar to the current iPhone 17. However, new leaks suggest its display might push brightness to a whole new level.
According to the reports, BOE, one of Apple’s OLED suppliers, could struggle to meet the company’s strict brightness requirements. This implies that the iPhone 18 may offer a display significantly brighter than the iPhone 17, which currently delivers 1,000 nits of typical maximum brightness, 1,600 nits in HDR, and peaks at 3,000 nits.
Leaks indicate the iPhone 18 will feature a 6.27-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Like recent models, it is expected to include the Dynamic Island.
Unlike Apple’s usual September launches, the iPhone 18 may arrive earlier in 2027. Reports suggest it will debut alongside the more budget-friendly iPhone 18e.
