Punjab has officially introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a new subject in all government schools, marking a major shift in the province’s education system. The initiative, announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aims to equip students with modern digital skills needed to compete in today’s technology-driven world.
In a post shared on her official X account on Tuesday, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz confirmed that AI education is being implemented across all public schools in Punjab from today. She emphasized that every student, without any discrimination, will have access to advanced digital and analytical tools.
“This is a historic digital leap for Punjab,” the chief minister said, adding that the province is taking the lead in preparing its youth for future challenges.
The move comes as part of Punjab’s broader education reform agenda focused on modernization and technology integration. Under the program, an AI teacher will be appointed in every public school, while 1,000 teachers have already been trained as AI Master Trainers to ensure smooth implementation.
According to the chief minister, the AI curriculum will be fully integrated within the next 60 days, allowing students at the school level to gain early exposure to emerging technologies such as machine learning, data analysis, and automation concepts.
Education experts believe that introducing AI at the school level can help bridge Pakistan’s digital skills gap and prepare students for future careers in technology, science, and innovation. Punjab’s initiative is being seen as a model that other provinces may follow in the coming months.
