Pakistan has announced plans to produce two major historical web series focusing on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, aiming to present their lives and ideas to a new generation through digital platforms. The initiative, led by the federal government, is being described as a step toward reconnecting young audiences with the country’s ideological and constitutional foundations.
The decision was shared by Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Development, during a consultative meeting held in Islamabad. The meeting focused on developing two global-standard web series to align with the upcoming 150th birth anniversaries of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
Speaking at the meeting, the minister said the project goes beyond symbolism and is meant to play a meaningful role in national renewal. He stressed that storytelling, when done with purpose and research, can help strengthen national identity and revive intellectual discourse.
According to officials, the series will explore Quaid-e-Azam’s constitutional struggle and leadership during the Pakistan Movement, while also highlighting Allama Iqbal’s philosophical ideas and vision that inspired the creation of the country. The goal is to present these narratives in a way that remains relevant for both local and international audiences.
To ensure quality production, the government has committed seed funding of up to Rs. 500 million. Officials said the funding will help meet international production standards, particularly in writing, research, and visual storytelling.
The minister also announced that academic workshops will be arranged for writers and producers. These sessions will focus on historical research and intellectual depth to ensure accuracy and authenticity in the portrayal of national figures.
