The Academic Council of Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, has approved the establishment of a Law Department, marking a significant step toward expanding academic offerings at the institution.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khan Alam, which focused on key academic and administrative matters. Participants also held detailed discussions on ensuring effective implementation of policies issued by the Higher Education Commission.
Council members emphasized aligning the university’s curriculum with HEC guidelines, further strengthening the semester system, and enhancing transparency in the examination process to maintain academic credibility.
A comprehensive discussion was held on launching the proposed Law Department. Addressing the meeting, the vice chancellor stated that, considering the growing demand for legal education and regional needs, the university plans to introduce a modern law program aligned with contemporary academic and professional requirements.
He directed relevant authorities to complete all legal and administrative formalities at the earliest to enable students to access quality legal education in the near future.
Reiterating the university’s mission, Dr. Khan Alam said that providing quality education and promoting research remain top priorities. He stressed that HEC policies must be implemented in letter and spirit to ensure academic standards remain consistent with national benchmarks.
