Former Australian pacer Peter Siddle has adopted a new nickname in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), becoming the “foreign Chacha” alongside Iftikhar Ahmed’s local title.
The right-arm pacer revealed during a media interaction that teammates, particularly Mohammad Nawaz, have started calling him “Chacha,” the Urdu term for paternal uncle.
The nickname originated during the Australian summer when Siddle played alongside Haris Rauf in the Big Bash League (BBL), and it has now become popular in PSL circles.
Siddle said that the nickname is likely permanent, especially after a viral photo featuring him alongside Iftikhar Ahmed, who has long been affectionately called “Chacha” by local fans.
“The boys made me get a photo with Ifty,” Siddle said, adding that Mohammad Nawaz enjoys calling him Chacha, reinforcing the playful identity in the dressing room.
Last week, the fast bowler made a notable Pakistan Super League debut for Multan Sultans, becoming the second oldest debutant in tournament history overall ever.
Only former captain Misbah-ul-Haq was older at his debut, placing Siddle among the most experienced players to feature in the competition in history.
Siddle made an immediate impact by claiming a wicket in his second over against Islamabad United during the match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
