Hyderabad Kingsmen opening batter Saim Ayub reached 1,000 runs in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history during the his team third match against Multan Sultans at Gaddafi Stadium.
The left-handed batter achieved the milestone when he hit Shehzad Gul for a boundary on the first ball of the innings, adding another record to his growing PSL career.
The 23-year-old became the 28th batter in league history to surpass 1,000 runs, joining notable players including Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, and Sarfaraz Ahmed in the elite list.
Although the stylish batter is the first Kingsmen player to reach 1,000 PSL runs, most of his total, 860, came while representing Peshawar Zalmi from 2023 to 2025 seasons.
He made his PSL debut with Quetta Gladiators in 2021, scoring 114 runs in seven innings at an average of 16.28 and a strike rate of 108.57 in his first season of the PSL.
Ayub has also taken 14 wickets in the PSL, with a bowling average of 30.42 and an economy rate of 7.88, highlighting his all-round contributions to teams.
During this match, the left-handed opener remained unbeaten on 13, bringing his PSL career tally to 1,012 runs in his 44th league appearance for various franchises.
His all-round abilities led the Kingsmen to sign him for Rs126 million, making him the most expensive local player in PSL history before the recent players’ auction.
Despite the high price, Ayub has yet to perform consistently for Kingsmen, scoring 17 against Lahore Qalandars and eight against Quetta Gladiators in the first two matches.
