Former Australian batter David Warner has been charged with drink driving after allegedly recording a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit in Sydney.
Warner reportedly recorded a 0.104 reading following a breath test on Sunday evening in Maroubra, an eastern suburb of New South Wales, during a random roadside check.
New South Wales Police said the 39-year-old stopped and parked his van just before reaching a stationary random breath testing site on Malabar Road in Maroubra.
Officers approached the vehicle and conducted a roadside breath test, which reportedly returned a positive result, leading to Warner’s arrest and transfer to Maroubra Police Station.
At the police station, a second test allegedly produced a reading of 0.104, exceeding the legal limit of 0.05 for fully licensed drivers in New South Wales.
The left-handed batter, a 112-Test veteran, has been issued a Field Court Attendance Notice and is scheduled to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on 7 May 2026.
Warner currently captains the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 and had been scheduled to arrive in Karachi on 9 April for the second leg of the competition.
It is not yet known how the drink-driving charge will affect the participation of the experienced batter in the ongoing Pakistan Super League season.
