The highly anticipated Marvel’s Venom game is still alive. According to a new leak, Insomniac Games continues active development on this Spider-Man spin-off.
Originally, a massive data breach in 2023 revealed this project to the public. Back then, an internal roadmap slated the Venom game for a 2025 release. Because 2025 came and went without an official announcement, many fans naturally assumed the studio canceled the project. However, reliable Twitter leaker NateTheHate recently confirmed that the game is still very much in development. He did not, unfortunately, share a timeline for an official announcement.

Cancellation Confusion About Marvel’s Venom Game
Part of the confusion around the game’s status started back in April of this year. At that time, Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter claimed that Insomniac canceled the Venom spin-off. Jeter stated this happened following the death of Venom voice actor Tony Todd.
Consequently, this rumor quickly spread throughout the online Marvel’s Spider-Man community. Fortunately, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier later debunked Jeter’s claim. Still, without an official confirmation from the developers, the game’s actual status remained highly dubious to the public.
A Bridge Between Spider-Man Entries
Venom recently played a massive role as a main villain in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Fans absolutely loved this appearance. Therefore, a standalone spin-off starring Venom feels like a natural next step. Additionally, many fans theorize the story will follow the popular Lethal Protector comic storyline.
Furthermore, this new title could perfectly bridge the gap between Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. This approach directly mirrors how Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales connected the first two mainline games.
Right now, Insomniac has its hands full finishing Marvel’s Wolverine. Notably, that highly anticipated mutant game will launch later this month. Once Wolverine officially releases, the developers will likely shift their attention back toward Venom. This shifting timeline suggests the studio possibly rebooted Venom’s development, pushing it far beyond its original 2025 launch window.
Insomniac’s Packed Release Roadmap
Beyond Venom, Insomniac reportedly has several major titles in the pipeline. If the leaked 2023 roadmap remains accurate, the studio plans to release multiple blockbuster games through 2030. This impressive slate includes:
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 ==> 2028
- A new Ratchet and Clank ==> 2029
- Marvel’s X-Men ==> 2030
Since Spider-Man 3 is aiming for 2028, Marvel’s Venom could easily slide into a 2027 release window. Afterward, Insomniac will free up valuable resources to tackle Ratchet and Clank alongside Marvel’s X-Men. Of course, the studio could have easily shifted all these release targets over the last three years since the initial roadmap leak.
