After months of testing, WhatsApp has finally rolled out its dedicated app for Apple CarPlay. The feature first appeared in late March during internal testing. Now, it is officially available to users. Earlier, CarPlay users relied on Siri to interact with WhatsApp. However, this update removes that limitation and brings a full app experience to the car’s dashboard.
The new app makes communication much easier while driving. Users can now read and send messages directly from the screen. They can also make and receive calls without using voice commands. In addition, contacts are fully accessible within the app. As a result, drivers no longer need to depend on Siri for basic tasks. Despite these changes, WhatsApp continues to use end-to-end encryption for all conversations.
The interface has been kept simple and clean. It includes three main tabs that organize everything clearly. The chat list shows recent conversations, especially those with unread messages. Meanwhile, the call history tab displays recent calls and allows users to place a call with a single tap. This setup ensures quick access without distractions.
Another useful addition is the favorite contacts tab. It helps users quickly reach people they contact most often. Instead of scrolling through long chat lists, they can select a favorite contact instantly. After tapping, users can either call or send a message with fewer steps. Moreover, this list stays synced with favorites saved on the iPhone, which keeps everything consistent.
To use this feature, users must install the latest iOS version of WhatsApp on their iPhone. Once updated, the app appears automatically on the CarPlay dashboard after connecting the device. This update brings a more complete and convenient messaging experience to drivers.
