Weekly inflation in Pakistan rose by 1.93 percent, taking the annual rate to 12.15 percent, driven mainly by sharp increases in petrol and diesel prices last week.
Diesel prices surged 54.71 percent and petrol rose 17.86 percent, contributing heavily to inflationary pressure, according to official figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Prices of 28 essential commodities increased during the week, while eight items recorded declines and 15 remained unchanged, reflecting mixed trends across household consumption categories.
Tomatoes rose 9.35 percent, LPG 8.61 percent, and potatoes 4.13 percent, while eggs increased 3.77 percent and bread edged higher by 0.47 percent.
Meat prices also climbed modestly, with beef rising 1.07 percent and mutton increasing 1.05 percent, adding further pressure on household food budgets during the week.
Some relief was observed as garlic prices fell 3.78 percent and bananas declined 3.39 percent, alongside easing prices of chicken, flour, ghee, and cooking oil.
