The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed preliminary approval for constructing a new stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, intended to host future Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.
The governing board discussed the proposal during a recent Lahore meeting, authorising an expression of interest to collaborate with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation on development.
Officials stated the project remains at an early stage, requiring further approvals and agreements before construction begins, though initial discussions have already taken place with Saudi counterparts.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Saudi Arabia in December 2024, meeting Prince Saud bin Mishal Al‑Saud to explore stadium construction and cricket promotion opportunities.
Saudi Arabia cricket structure has expanded since the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation was established in 2020, reflecting growing interest in the sport across the Kingdom.
Reports indicate the proposed Jeddah venue could eventually host Pakistan Super League fixtures, providing the tournament with a Middle Eastern base beyond the United Arab Emirates.
The Lahore Qalandars and other franchises have previously played PSL matches in the UAE, which successfully hosted games during earlier seasons of the tournament.
For now, the Jeddah stadium proposal remains under review, with final approvals, construction timelines, and operational details yet to be confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
