The provincial government of Punjab has launched a dedicated financial assistance programme, the Rehmat Card, providing direct cash support to widows and orphans.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz digitally inaugurated the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card scheme during a ceremony held in Lahore on Thursday afternoon.
Under the programme, a total of 50,000 eligible widows and orphans across the province will each receive Rs. 100,000 through a dedicated Rehmat Card issued to them.
Funding and eligibility
A record allocation of five billion rupees has been set aside from the provincial Zakat fund of Punjab to finance the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card initiative.
Special Assistant Rashid Iqbal Nasrullah briefed Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in detail on the programme’s structure, budget, and operational framework during the launch event.
Muslim widows and orphans who are legally entitled to receive Zakat under Islamic law will be considered eligible to apply for financial assistance.
Government employees and pension holders are explicitly excluded from the programme and will not qualify to receive any financial support through the Rehmat Card.
Selection process
Beneficiaries will be selected through the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry database, with the final allocation determined according to district-level quotas assigned under that system.
Applicants who are not registered in the system will have their personal data independently verified through the National Database and Registration Authority, known as NADRA.
Officials confirmed that any applicant failing to meet the programme’s eligibility conditions will not qualify for financial assistance under any circumstances.
How to apply
Citizens may submit their applications for the Rehmat Card through the official online portal at rahmatcard.punjab.gov.pk or through a designated mobile application.
Those requiring further information or assistance regarding the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card programme may contact the government helpline by dialling the number 1077.
Payment method
Approved financial assistance will be transferred directly to beneficiaries through a JazzCash Wallet account linked to their registered identity and personal information.
On the chief minister’s instructions, the Punjab government will cover all JazzCash Wallet service charges to ensure beneficiaries receive their full entitled amounts.
