The Punjab Assembly has passed a resolution directing the government to install safety cameras in all public and private school transport vehicles across the province.
Government member Maria Talal presented the resolution to the assembly, urging the Punjab government to take effective and immediate measures to ensure child safety.
The resolution specifically calls for safety cameras to be fitted inside all school vans, buses, and rickshaws operating under both public and private school management.
All installed cameras will be linked to a dedicated mobile application, enabling parents to monitor the journeys of their children directly and in real time from anywhere.
Education Budget Released for Q4
The Punjab Finance Department has released a non-salary education budget totalling Rs. 2,450 million for schools across the entire province.
Sources confirmed the funds represent the fourth quarterly disbursement of the year, covering developmental and administrative school expenses that fall outside regular staff salary payments.
The Finance Department stated the budget will be used to improve school facilities, provide essential resources, and raise overall educational quality and standards across Punjab.
District-wise fund allocations
Lahore district has been allocated Rs. 89 million, while Faisalabad received Rs. 120 million as part of the latest provincial education budget release.
Multan was allocated Rs. 81.7 million and Gujranwala received Rs. 79.8 million from the same fourth‑quarter non‑salary education disbursement package.
Gujarat received Rs. 69.5 million, Hafizabad was allocated Rs. 31.3 million, and Chiniot received Rs. 33.8 million from the released funds.
Bahawalnagar received Rs. 100 million, Bahawalpur was allocated Rs. 80 million, and Bhakkar received Rs. 60 million as part of the provincial education funding.
Jhang received Rs. 80 million, Kasur was allocated Rs. 70 million, and Rawalpindi received Rs. 90 million from the fourth‑quarter non‑salary provincial education budget disbursement.
