The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has formally launched the initial phase of a major aviation project with the kick-off meeting for the feasibility study, master planning, and detailed design services of the proposed Greenfield Airport in Sukkur.
The meeting marked the official start of work on the new airport project aimed at improving air connectivity in upper Sindh and supporting long-term regional development.
According to officials, the project is being executed by the PAA in collaboration with an international and local joint venture led by Germany-based M/s M2P Consulting GmbH as the lead consultant. The consultancy consortium also includes UK-based M/s Leit-Werk Limited as a foreign expert, along with local firms M/s Indus Associated Consultants Lahore and M/s Cosmic Engineering Consultants Islamabad.
The session was chaired by Director General Pakistan Airports Authority Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed and attended by senior officials including Deputy Director General (Works and Development) Sumair Saeed and Director Planning and Development Ghulam Abbas Sheikh.
Representatives from regional administration, government departments, aviation stakeholders, and the business community also participated in the meeting. Consultants briefed attendees on the project’s work plan, including feasibility assessments, master planning, and design development, followed by detailed discussions with stakeholders.
Officials said the proposed Greenfield Airport is expected to enhance trade, investment, tourism, and overall economic activity in Sukkur and surrounding regions, while significantly improving connectivity for upper Sindh.
