Playground Games recently revealed the official PC system requirements for Fable. Players can finally see what hardware they need to enter Albion. The highly anticipated open-world RPG will arrive as a major release in 2027.
Playground Games previously spent years building impressive environments for the Forza Horizon series. However, Fable presents a completely different technical challenge. Despite the game’s massive ambition, the initial specifications suggest impressive scalability. Players can run the game on an eight-year-old mainstream GPU, while high-end enthusiasts will need expensive modern hardware.
A Massive Open World with a Living Population
Fable features a dense population and detailed environments. Furthermore, it packs extensive life-sim elements that fans expect from the franchise.
The game utilizes a “Living Population” system. Consequently, the world contains over 1,000 handcrafted, persistent NPCs. These characters operate with their own routines and distinct personalities. Players can interact deeply with them. You can befriend, antagonize, employ, or even marry these NPCs.
Additionally, players can enter every building in the game. You can also purchase houses and various businesses. The background simulation handles a massive amount of content beneath the surface.
Official Fable PC System Requirements
To handle this massive open world, the PC version requires a solid-state drive (SSD). You must have at least 135GB of available storage space. This installation size is relatively standard for modern AAA releases, but it highlights the sheer amount of content Playground Games packed into the title.
The game supports Windows 10 22H2, and the developer recommends using XMP and REBAR. Furthermore, the PC version supports both Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR upscaling technologies.
Here are the official PC specifications:
| Preset | Target Resolution & FPS | Required CPU | Required GPU | VRAM | RAM |
| Low | 1080p at 30 FPS | AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Intel Core i7-6850K |
NVIDIA RTX 5050 NVIDIA RTX 2060 AMD RX 6600 Intel Arc A580 |

Interestingly, system memory maxes out at 16GB even on the Ultra preset, though VRAM requirements gradually scale up to 16GB.
PC Gamers React to the Specs
The PC gaming community has shown a mixed reaction to the Fable PC system requirements. Fans offered a highly positive response to the approachable minimum specifications. Including the RTX 2060 encourages players with aging hardware. Getting a dense, simulated open-world RPG running on an older CPU and GPU is an impressive feat.
Conversely, players are far less impressed by the higher tier targets. Many PC gamers consider 60 FPS the absolute standard. Therefore, the continued use of 30 FPS targets at the recommended and minimum levels frustrated some fans.
Finally, uncertainty remains regarding the resolutions. Playground Games has not explicitly confirmed if these targets assume native rendering or rely on upscaling. Ultimately, players must wait for detailed benchmarks to judge exactly how demanding Fable truly is.
