Fresh leaks surfaced yesterday regarding Ubisoft’s upcoming title, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. A known leaker named Rogue shared major details about the game’s setting, gameplay, and characters. Fellow Ubisoft leaker xJonathan corroborated several of these claims. These unverified details point toward a significantly darker tone for the iconic franchise.
Brutal Setting & New Protagonist
The leaks reveal the game takes place in Germany during the Wurzburg Witch Trials between 1625 and 1631. This historical period marks one of the largest mass trials and executions in European history. Consequently, the game will feature a very dark and grim atmosphere.

Players will control a new protagonist named Anika. Developers previously used “Elsa” merely as an internal placeholder name. Most importantly, Anika shares a deep lineage with franchise royalty. She is reportedly a direct descendant of Claudia Auditore, the sister of Ezio Auditore.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe: Paranoia, Gameplay & Parkour
Gameplay mechanics will directly reflect the paranoia of the 17th-century witch hunts. Enemies possess a highly sensitive alert system. They will report suspicious activity much faster due to the rampant hysteria surrounding witches.
Hexe is more Linear and focused and has a more disturbing vibe to the game something you will love.

Players will navigate dense forest environments. Furthermore, the game brings back “tree-to-tree branch jumping”. This parkour mechanic serves as a direct callback to Assassin’s Creed 3. The leaks also detail specific in-game activities. Players will reportedly deal with blood pacts, utilize poisons, hunt down ritual sites, and recover stolen relics.
The Ghostly Return of Ezio Auditore
Perhaps the most surprising detail involves the return of Ezio Auditore. The leaks suggest Ezio will guide and mentor Anika as a spirit or ghost. Several leaked voicelines highlight this supernatural dynamic.

That white hood, it’s like the one in my mother’s drawings.
Ezio responds with classic Assassin wisdom:
