WhatsApp rolls out tab-based navigation for group chat info screen in Android beta version 2.26.20.7, now available via Google Play Beta Program.
According to WABetaInfo, the new system organizes group chat info into three dedicated tabs: Members, Media, and Settings. Users tap any tab and interface automatically scrolls to corresponding section. Change eliminates need to manually scroll through entire page to find specific options.
Group chat info screen previously displayed all settings in one continuous scroll. Screen includes group name, participant list, shared media, notification settings, Media Visibility, Disappearing Messages, and Chat Lock controls. Growing number of features made navigation increasingly cluttered and harder to use.
Tab system does not split content into separate pages. All three sections remain within same screen. Tapping a tab triggers automatic scroll to relevant section, making access faster without disrupting overall layout.
WhatsApp introduced a similar navigation improvement in earlier beta version 2.26.20.2, which reorganized the main chat list. That update moved less-used chat categories into a dedicated “More” section to reduce clutter in Chats tab. New group info update follows same logic, applying structured navigation to group management screen.
Feature currently rolling out to select beta testers, which means it is not yet available to all users. WhatsApp plans to expand access to more beta testers over coming weeks before wider rollout.
WhatsApp has over 2 billion active users globally, with Pakistan among its largest markets.
