The Next Kingdom Come: Deliverance Game
Warhorse released Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in early 2025 to incredible critical acclaim. The sequel improved upon the 2018 original and stood out as a Game of the Year frontrunner next to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Now, the studio is pushing the historical franchise even further forward.
Communications Director Tobias Stolz-Zwilling and Community Manager Tom Grey recently went live to clarify the developer’s future. They confirmed that the next Kingdom Come entry will strictly remain an open-world RPG. The studio expects to release this new title during the 2027 fiscal year. Therefore, fans should anticipate a launch window between April 2027 and March 2028.
Prokop Jirsa currently leads this highly anticipated project. He previously served as Lead Designer and recently stepped into a Creative Director role at Warhorse. Additionally, Stolz-Zwilling reassured players that the medieval franchise remains an “absolute passion project” and a top priority for the studio.
A Middle-Earth RPG & KCD Movie
Meanwhile, Warhorse Studios is tackling a massive new intellectual property. During a developer livestream on May 21, the studio confirmed recent rumors. Warhorse is actively developing a game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. Viktor Bocan spearheads this Middle-earth project. He secured his new position as Creative Director after his extensive work as Design Director on both Kingdom Come titles.
Finally, the Kingdom Come universe is rapidly expanding beyond video games. Warhorse announced that a Kingdom Come: Deliverance movie is officially in the works. Consequently, former game director Daniel Vávra left game development entirely. He will now focus his efforts exclusively on creating this upcoming film adaptation.
