The National Economic Council (NCC) meeting has been postponed for the third time, now rescheduled for Tuesday, 9 June 2026, at 11:30 hours at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.
The Cabinet Division issued a late-night notice on Sunday confirming the rescheduling, stating that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair the meeting as originally planned.
The NEC meeting was first scheduled for 22 May, then moved to 3 June, and later rescheduled to 8 June before being postponed again to 9 June 2026.
The Prime Minister will chair the session, which will review the national investment plan for 2025-26 and finalise the national investment plan for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27.
The meeting will also confirm provisional GDP growth figures for the outgoing fiscal year 2025-26 and finalise the economic growth data for the previous fiscal year 2024-25.
The NEC will additionally review performance reports of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council and the Central Development Working Party for the current fiscal year 2025-26.
The Annual Plan Coordination Committee last week recommended a record national development outlay of Rs4,715 billion for 2026-27, alongside a GDP growth target of four percent for NEC approval.
